Hyeong-Ryul Kim is a board certified by the Korean Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. His professional interests include thoracic malignancy such as lung cancer, esophageal cancer and thymic neoplasm. He has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery and education.
A native of South Korea, He received his medical training at the Seoul National University College of Medicine, where he also undertook his Ph.D. studies and defended a thesis. After completing a clinical fellowship in the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, He has served as a staff surgeon in the Department of Thoracic Surgery of Seoul Asan Medical Center, South Korea. Subsequently, He became a Professor of Thoracic Surgery at the University of Ulsan, Medical College.
Until now, I have performed over 5000 operations for thoracic disease and authored or co-authored over 180 peer-reviewed journal articles. Based on these experiences, he serves as a publication committee member of Asia Thoracoscopic surgery Education Program (ATEP), treasury and board member of ATEP and an instructor for Asian trainees.
